Oration Lecture Series 01/2025 (亚洲通_亚洲通官网) in memory of Dr (Late) Aparna Bhaduri
亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, organized an 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Oration lecture on 08th July 2025, in memory of a legend in nursing, Dr (Late) Aparna Bhaduri, a highly esteemed nurse researcher of international repute, and former PG Coordinator at 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网. The oration lecture was held as part of the two day 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Conference on “Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in Health: Envisioning a Future of Global Collaboration for Education, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 & Practice,’ organized by MCON, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, in association with the Faculty of Nursing, University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada.
The oration in memory of Dr (Late) Aparna Bhaduri was delivered by Dr Anice George, an alumna of MCON, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, who is currently the Professor and Head of 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 and Collaboration, and Former Dean of 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网. The topic of the oration was “Promoting Inclusion and Diversity in Healthcare Education, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 and Practice”. The session was moderated by Dr Vishnu Renjith, an alumnus of MCON, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, who is currently a Lecturer and Program Director at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Dr Vishnu Renjith introduced the orator and spoke about her connection with Dr Bhaduri.
Dr Anice George spoke about diversity and inclusion in health care, education, practice, and research. She emphasized that diversity and inclusion are vital components of any modern health care system and are critical to achieving the core mission of the global health care community. She added that promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) fosters innovation, improves patient care and outcomes, supports a fair and inclusive workforce, reduces healthcare disparities, enhances career satisfaction, and strengthens research quality by minimizing bias.
Dr Anice also addressed challenges such as bias, cultural misunderstandings, and language barriers and outlined strategies to overcome them. She highlighted the value of embracing cultural diversity to enhance learning and concluded by stressing the importance of a proactive, multifaceted approach to embedding inclusiveness in organizational culture, thereby ensuring equitable and impactful healthcare education, research, and practice. This lecture addressed several SDG goals, including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4:
Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnership for Goals.

The oration lecture was conducted along with two days of 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Conference on “Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in Health: Envisioning a Future of Global Collaboration for Education, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 & Practice organized by MCON, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, MAHE in association with Faculty of Nursing, University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada.
Oration in memory of Professor P P Bhanumathi was orated by Dr Saibala Madathil, Nursing Director, Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, on the topic “Inclusive leadership in Health Care”. The session was moderated by Dr Suja Karkada, who is also an alumna of MCON, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, presently the Professor & Principal, Lombard Memorial College of Nursing, Udupi.
Dr Saibala spoke about equality and equity, issues related to inequality, and strategies to eliminate disparity. She discussed the concepts of inclusion and diversity, and how equality, inclusion, and diversity are interrelated. She also explained how commercial elements are entering our systems and influencing people, along with the role of culture, sociodemographic factors, and the caste system in shaping equality and diversity.
Dr Saibala highlighted the importance of leaders and leadership, and how leaders can influence others. She also discussed self-awareness and self-analysis, elaborating on the five elements of self-analysis and the impact of belief systems on leadership roles. She emphasized the need to focus on solutions, change behaviour, and instill good values in people’s everyday lives, illustrating her points with numerous real-life examples. This lecture also addressed several SDG goals, including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnership for Goals.
