亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 organized the 8th?Curriculum Convention on Course Outcome Evaluation (Practical component of OBE Framework) on 29 October 2022.
National Education Policy (NEP) - 2020 brings in the new initiative of formulating a higher education curriculum on par with international standards to meet the global requirement, wherein outcome-based and competency-based education plays a key role, chief guest, Dr. Sreejith G, Associate Professor of Microbiology Dept. of Basic Medical Sciences & Deputy Registrar - Evaluation (Health Sciences) MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 expressed. He emphasized that the Education system has had significant changes during the pandemic that brought creativity to the teaching-learning process. In nursing, more focus should be on skill components and affective domains which should be implemented effectively into the system. The learners should be effectively communicated about changes in the curriculum. He also added that MAHE and MCON enthusiastically adopted the changes and congratulated MCON for their future endeavors.
Dr. Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 welcomed the gathering and addressed the faculty members to look through the course outcomes and do the modifications if any, and also to prepare the competency checklists and rubrics to evaluate the practical outcome of the learners.
The resource person, Dr. Srikant N, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 oriented the faculty members regarding the outcome-based assessment – practical framework and formulation of rubrics for the effective implementation and evaluation of the curriculum. He explained the process of outcome assessment of practical components in various stages such as Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE) and Objective Structured Practical Evaluation (OSPE), Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) evaluation, and Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercises. Following his address, the brainstorming session was conducted wherein the faculty members were divided into eleven groups to discuss and prepare rubrics on any one procedure specific to their clinical specialty. Dr. Srikant guided and facilitated the group discussion with an individualized approach and appropriate suggestions.
The overview of the curriculum convention was deliberated by Mrs. Ranjani P, Assistant Professor and Convener of the convention. Dr. Linu Sara George, Professor & Head, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing and Head of the Academic Excellence Team proposed the vote of thanks. A total of 49 participants actively participated in the curriculum convention 2022.?
