Report on CNE on “Medication Safety”

The Medical Surgical Nursing Department along with Cardiovascular and thoracic nursing specialty students of 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education organized Continuing Nursing Education program on “Medication safety” for the staff nurses of Kasturba Hospital 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 on 19.05.2023 between 8.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Dr. Jyothi Chakrabarty, Head, Department of medical surgical nursing welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest and guest of honor. Chief Guest Dr Judith A Noronha, Dean, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education highlighted the need for nurses to be well equipped with care aspects as well as to be updated with technological advances. Guest of Honour Dr. P Suba Sooria head of the nursing service department, at Kasturba Hospital 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, highlighted that medication safety is a need of the hour and it is important to know medication safety, and being a nurse, it is very important to prevent medication error. Ms Sushma Belinda Rodrigues 2nd year MSc Nursing student proposed the vote of thanks.
Mrs. Janet Prameela Dsouza, Assistant Professor senior scale, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing spoke on the rights of drug administration, medication error, and the role of a nurse in the safe administration of medications
Dr Cereena Chinnu Thomas Clinical Pharmacist Kasturba Hospital, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 spoke on cardiac drug classification and the importance of knowing the right medication and its dose and to prevent prescription errors. Ms Sushma Belinda Rodrigues 2nd year MSc nursing CVCT specialty student MCON 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 spoke on drug calculations with live exercises and group interaction. Mr. Prasannakumara Nurse Practitioner in critical care nursing, KH 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 spoke on IV infusions, small volume, and large volume mix. Ms. Loretta Dsilva, 2nd year MSc nursing CVCT specialty student MCON 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 conducted the practice session on drug and fluid calculations. The program concluded with a feedback session and certificate distribution was held for the 34 staff nurses who actively participated in the CNE.
