World Cancer Day 2016 Theme - We can I can

As a part of World Cancer Day 2016, Cancer Awareness Programme was organized on 4th February 2016 by the Department of Community Health Nursing, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 at Geetha Mandir Moodubelle.

Cancer is the name given to a collection of related diseases. In all types of cancer, some of the cells of the body begin to divide continuously and spread into surrounding tissues.
Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Normally, human cells grow and divide to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells grow old or become damaged, they die, and new cells take their place.
National Cancer Institute reported, among the current Indian population (1.27 billion) the incidence of cancer is 70-90 per 100,000 populations and cancer prevalence is established to be around 2,500,000 (2.5 million) with over 800,000 new cases and 5,50,000 deaths occurring every year. The number of new cases of cancer (cancer incidence) is 454.8 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2008-2012 cases).The number of cancer deaths (cancer mortality) is 171.2 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2008-2012 deaths).?

The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr. Krishna Prasad, Medical Officer Pernankila PHC, Mrs. Malathi G Nayak, Assistant Professor, Community Health Nursing, MCON 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 were the resource person. Mrs. Renjini Hegde, President of Moodubelle Panchayat was also present for the programme.
The programme commenced with prayer song and welcome speech by Ms. Sushmitha 4th year BSc Nursing student followed by lamp lighting. Talk was deliberated by Dr. Krishna Prasad on cancer causes and treatment facilities available from the government set up. Mrs. Renjini Hegde gave her suggestions on awareness programmes and encouraged the audience to convey the message to others.
Students of 4th year BSc Nursing performed chitrahar on cancer and power point presentation by Ms. Ikhitha H.S 4th year BSc Nursing student. She emphasized on different types of cancer, definition, causes, symptoms, screening method and prevention. Mrs. Malathi G Nayak presented a talk on management aspects of cancer. Ms. Sushmitha demonstrated breast self-examination.
A total of 26 community members of Thirlapalke, Nellikatte and also from Moodubelle attended the programme.
