Global Symposium series - 5 on ‘Tackling Health Inequities- Healthcare Empowerment in Developing Countries’ was organized by the Team - Expanding Reach and 亚洲通_亚洲通官网ization, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Nursing, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 on October 19, 2021, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Dr Mamatha S Pai, Professor, Dept. of Child Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 and Dr Matpady Prabhath Kalkura, Manager 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 and Field Operations, Indian Institute of Health Management 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Campus Bengaluru, Karnataka were the speakers for the session.
Dr Mamatha S Pai, highlighted the different health inequities in the Indian context, especially focusing on the issues. She also emphasized that improving living conditions in the family, changes in the structural and health-related factors will help in equitable health for all the people of the country.
Dr Matpady Prabhath Kalkura focused in-depth on the causes of inequity and its impact. He also spoke about determinants contributing to health equity insisting on the importance of Social security schemes in social stability. Further, he threw light on the role of environment and neighbourhood in promoting health equity. He emphasized that the structural driven solution should come from the community to solve the problem of inequity.
Dr Judith A Noronha, Professor & Dean, MCON, MAHE, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, moderated the session and event management was done by Mrs Jackline Prathibha, Lecturer, Dept. of Fundamentals of Nursing. There were 75 participants for the session from various places attending virtually.
