On World No Tobacco Day 2024, we united to protect children from tobacco industry interference. The Department of Public Health Dentistry came together to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and its devastating impact on health, communities, the environment, and children. We celebrated with a week of events to share facts about the harms of tobacco, encourage friends and family to quit smoking, and advocate for more robust tobacco control policies. Together, we can make a difference! # Let's envision a healthier, happier, and tobacco-free world.

We were honored to have Dr. M. Mukhyaprana Prabhu, Professor and Head of the Department of General Medicine, KMC, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, and Dr. Leslie Edward Lewis, Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics, KMC, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, as our Guests of Honour.

A webinar session aimed to address the critical issue of safeguarding children from the harmful influences of the tobacco industry with the Theme: Protecting children from tobacco industry interference was conducted.

Dr. Shalini Singh, a Global Tobacco Policy 亚洲通_亚洲通官网er based in the USA, provided valuable insights into the research methodologies and resources essential for effective tobacco control measures.

Dr. Agramroop Kaur, a Global Youth Health Advocate affiliated with Tobacco-Free Kids in the USA, discussed strategies and initiatives to empower youth in the fight against tobacco use.

The webinar attracted a diverse audience, including healthcare professionals, researchers, and postgraduate students. Participants engaged actively through interactive Q&A sessions, expressing keen interest in practical approaches to combatting tobacco use among children and adolescents.

The webinar concluded on a positive note with a renewed commitment from participants to implement evidence-based strategies and advocate for more robust policies to protect children from the detrimental effects of tobacco. 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Dental Sciences plans to organize similar educational events to?raise awareness and drive actionable steps toward tobacco control and public health improvement.

A Health Education program and screening camp was organized?at 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Junior College (MJC), 亚洲通_亚洲通官网.

Ms. Shyla from the DSO office in Udupi and Dr. Ramprasad provided valuable insights into tobacco cessation and highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco through informative sessions. Their efforts were instrumental in raising awareness among attendees about the importance of quitting smoking for better health. Our team was able to screen 204 high school students.
