YOGA FINDS ITS WAY INTO THE MBA CURRICULUM

School of Management, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education inaugurated a wellness program, ‘Yoga for Stress Management’ for its students and staff members on, 9th November 2015. Launching the initiative, aimed at holistic development of students, Dr. Raveendranath Nayak, Director, School of Management, shared his plans on integrating yoga and meditation into the MBA curriculum. He said that SOM has taken a step further in this direction, by introducing a new course on 'Stress and emotion management, yoga, and meditation'.
“Between classes, exams, assignments, recruitments and internships, the MBA experience produces a lot of high-pressure moments, and virtually there is no escape even after graduation from deadlines, competitions, confrontations in corporate life. So it’s essential to impart skills and techniques to actively manage stress and thereby equipping students at an early stage in their career to face the tough realms of corporate life said Dr. Raveendranath Nayak.
Speaking as chief guest, Fr Francis Lewis, Pastor of Christ church 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, shared his anxiety on unrealistic expectations of parents about their children and its negative consequence on their mental, emotional and physical well-being. He also pointed out the fundamental connection between emotional imbalance and poor life prospects. He said that Yoga could serve as an effective means to channelize the energy of youth in positive direction.
Dr. Annapoorna K, HOD Department of Yoga, shed light on therapeutic benefits of yoga and its ability to modulate stress response systems. Ms. Preksha Mayyadi, 2nd year student welcomed the gathering, Suraj Francis Norohna, Assistant Professor SOM, proposed the vote of thanks.
