Tobacco Awareness Skit: “One Puff – A Lifetime Loss”
As part of the District Tobacco Control Programme organised by the District Health and Family Welfare Department, a group of enthusiastic Public Health students from 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 conducted an awareness activity on the harmful effects of tobacco use at Upendra Pai Memorial College, Udupi on October 29, 2025.
The event was coordinated by Dr Varun Kumar S G (Coordinator, CRD, PSPH, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网) and organised under the banner of the Centre for Regional Development (CRD), Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 in collaboration with the District Surveillance Office (DSO), Udupi.
To engage the audience meaningfully, the team performed a skit titled “One Puff – A Lifetime Loss.” The story follows Aisha, a college student who, influenced by peers, starts smoking—only to face serious health consequences. A turning point comes when she learns about a real-life tragedy caused by tobacco addiction, inspiring her to quit and choose a healthier path.
Through this performance, they sought to spread awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and encourage young people to make informed, healthy life choices.
It was a rewarding and memorable experience for all of them, as they united to promote the vision of a tobacco-free society.
