Dr. Prem Venkatesan

Additional Professor & Co-Ordinator, Allied Health Sciences

Experienced academic and healthcare professional with over two decades of expertise in physiotherapy, research, and healthcare management. Completed Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from SRM College of Physiotherapy, Chennai (2000), followed by Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) from 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) (2003). Dr. Venkatesan earned his PhD from KMC Mangalore in 2011. He began his career as a lecturer at KMC Mangalore in 2004 and transitioned to 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 College of Health Professions, 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Hospital, MAHE, Bengaluru campus in 2010. And was appointed as Head of the Physiotherapy Department in 2018 and has been serving as the Co-Ordinator for Allied Health Science programs at MAHE, Bengaluru since 2023. With a focus on academic excellence, clinical work, and research, Dr. Venkatesan’s research interests include the improvement of health outcomes in chronic lung diseases and chronic pain management. Have received research grants from the Department of Science and Technology, the Government of India, and BIRAC. Additionally, he has supervised over 90 postgraduate dissertations and two doctoral projects, resulting in 47 Scopus-indexed publications. Dr. Venkatesan is an active mentor and reviewer for prestigious journals and has expertise in pulmonary rehabilitation, manual therapy, and chronic pain management. Also works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams for both clinical care and research.

CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    As the Co-ordinator for Allied Health Sciences, plans the academic calendar for postgraduate programs, leading a team of four faculty members in delivering the physiotherapy curriculum. He uses diverse learning strategies, including lectures, case-based learning, seminars, research projects, and clinical performance evaluations. He works closely with specialists across various fields, such as pulmonology, rheumatology, spine surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery, to ensure high-quality clinical care and research.
