The PG students of Departments of Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences organised ‘Ex-Quiz Me’, a trivia quiz based on pop-culture. The event started off with the Quizmaster explaining the rules. The teams, that were formed on the spot, were told to pick their team names based on current pop culture.

The first round was ‘myth or fact’, wherein the teams tried their level best to discern if the statements they were being told were true or false. There were a lot of surprised faces among the audience when some myths and facts were confirmed, for example, the fact that Shakespeare invented the name ‘Jessica’. Team ‘Patrick Bateman’ and Team ‘Olivia Rodrigo’, unfortunately, did not survive this round. In the next round, the teams were asked to pick their question categories from mugs. The categories were music, general knowledge and books. Although they fought valiantly to the very end, Team "Rihanna" and Team "The Plastics" seemed to find this round to be too harsh. This left our two finalists, Team ‘The Originals’ and Team ‘Harry Styles’. The third and final round of the quiz—a well-known game called Dumb Charades—was announced by the quizmaster. However, the candidates were not told which song, movie, or phrase they would have to play out, which was an intriguing twist.

After a lot amusing expressions and a desperate need to race against time, the round ended with the organisers tallying the scores. The Quizmaster gave Dr Arjuna (a faculty member of DLHS) the title of an honorary participant, and played a final round of Dumb Charades with him while the scores were being calculated. Finally, we had a clear-cut winner, Team ‘The Originals’, with Team ‘Harry Styles’ coming in as a close second. The audience cheered for the participants and the organisers, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the beautiful day everyone had.

The event served as an elaborately organised bonding exercise for faculty and students alike. The relationship between students strengthened as they didn’t just learn about each-others’ interests, but also that of their teachers and mentors. The event also highlighted how times are ever-changing, and how useful it can be to not only know the political state of the world, but also cultural ongoings.
