Assistant Professor (Senior Scale)

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at the Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities, MAHE, Bengaluru campus. Previously, I worked as an Assistant Professor at the School of Business Studies and Social Sciences, Christ University, Bangalore, India. I have a PhD in Political Science from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom (specializing in Political Communication) and two Master’s degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication; one from the University of Madras in India and the other with a specialization in Broadcast and Electronic Communication, from Marquette University in the United States. My doctoral dissertation uses India as a case study to analyze whether the media, by creating issue salience of corruption, can influence judges to send more corrupt people to jail. My research interests include Media effects and public opinion; Efficacy, media use and civic participation; presidential debates; political advertising; Comparative Politics; Media and Gender.
