Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh? has assumed the role of the seventh Vice Chancellor of 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education from July 1, 2020.

Graduating with distinction from Mysore Medical College in 1978, Lieutenant General (Dr) M.D. Venkatesh was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in 1979, where he has since attained numerous academic and professional achievements. Dr Venkatesh completed his MS (ENT) from Mumbai University in 1986 and is widely recognised as an accomplished ENT surgeon. He has received specialised training in Cochlear Implantation and Neurotology both in India and abroad, rendering him an expert in his field. As a founding faculty member of the Department of Medical Education Technology at AFMC, he has made significant contributions to the field of Medical Education. He has trained several generations of undergraduate and postgraduate students at the AFMC in Pune. He has held all academic positions, from Reader to the Dean of Prestigious Armed Forces Medical College Pune.

During his 38-year career in the Armed Forces, Dr Venkatesh held significant administrative positions such as Deputy Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (Planning & Training), Additional Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (Medical 亚洲通_亚洲通官网, Health & Training), Dean of AFMC in Pune, and Commandant of AMC Centre and College in Lucknow.

Prof. Venkatesh holds academic and administrative positions, in addition to served as an assessor for the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the National Board of Examinations (NBE). He has been a member of several committees, including MCI, NBE, ICMR, and MOH & FW, where he provided expert opinions on critical healthcare matters. He is also an assessor for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and an advisor to DRDO on indigenous cochlear implant development programs. Prof. Venkatesh is the Chief Clinical Coordinator for clinical trials of indigenous Cochlear Implant programs approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

Lt. Gen. Dr M. D. Venkatesh is a highly esteemed and accomplished researcher in the field of otolaryngology and medical education. He has an extensive record of publications and has taught at some of India's most prestigious medical institutions. Additionally, he is recognised as a distinguished speaker for his expertise. He served as a Governor of the Board of Governors for the Indian Academy of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery and is also a member of several other professional organisations.

In addition to his impressive achievements in the medical domain, Dr Venkatesh was a distinguished member of the Medical Advisory Council for the newly commissioned National Medical Commission, as well as a member of the General Assembly of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), which operates under the auspices of the Government of India.

Lieutenant General Dr M.D. Venkatesh has been honoured with numerous awards and accolades for his outstanding contributions to the field of medicine. Among these awards are two commendations from the Chief of Army Staff, and the Prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal received from the President of India

Lieutenant General (Dr) M.D. Venkatesh served with distinction for 38 years in the Armed Forces Medical Services, before assuming the esteemed position of Vice Chancellor at Sikkim 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 University. Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities and effective team-building skills, earning him high praise for his outstanding performance.

He is currently leading the 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Academy of Higher Education, an Institution of Eminence, and a Deemed University, as Vice Chancellor. He is a highly regarded proponent of Health Science, Engineering, Humanities, Arts, and Sciences and has a strong commitment to recruiting and retaining top-tier faculty members. He has strengthened international partnerships, increased the number of endowed chairs and graduate fellowships, and prioritised providing researchers with essential resources to make significant contributions to their respective fields. His leadership has been a driving force in the institution's pursuit of excellence in higher education.
