亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Institute of Virology (MIV), 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 is a centre for diagnostic virology and research activities formerly known as 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 Centre for Virus 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 (MCVR). It is the regional reference laboratory for Influenza viruses and an Indian Council of Medical 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 (ICMR) Grade I Virus Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) supported by the Department of Health 亚洲通_亚洲通官网 (DHR) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India (GOI).
The institute also hosts the APEX Referral Laboratory for Arboviruses conferred by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP). The MIV is an excellent example of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) in public health virology.
The department also supports and conducts timely outbreak investigations along with the state Public Health services and produces trained virologists through its MSc and PhD programs.
